About this tour

A balanced seven-day route that covers the must-see sights of Georgia for a first visit. You start in Tbilisi with the old town, sulfur-bath district and panoramic views from Narikala fortress, then drive into the High Caucasus along the Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi, where the 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church sits at 2,170 m below Mount Kazbeg. The route continues into Kakheti — Georgia's eastern wine region — for two days of family-run qvevri wineries, the cliff-top town of Sighnaghi and a traditional supra dinner. We use comfortable 4★ hotels and small-group transport, with an English-speaking guide throughout.

Day-by-day itinerary

    Arrival in Tbilisi

    Airport pick-up and transfer to your hotel in central Tbilisi. Light orientation walk through the old town in the early evening, ending with dinner at a family-run cellar restaurant in Abanotubani (optional).

    Tbilisi Old Town & Mtskheta

    Full-day walking tour of old Tbilisi: Metekhi, Narikala fortress (cable car), Bridge of Peace and the sulfur baths quarter. Afternoon excursion to Mtskheta — visit Jvari Monastery on the cliff and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, both UNESCO World Heritage sites.

    Tbilisi → Gudauri → Stepantsminda (Kazbegi)

    Drive north along the Georgian Military Highway. Stops at Ananuri fortress on the Aragvi reservoir, the Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument and the Jvari Pass at 2,395 m. Arrive in Stepantsminda, with dramatic views of Mount Kazbeg.

    Gergeti Trinity & return to Tbilisi

    Morning 4×4 transfer up to Gergeti Trinity Church (2,170 m). Optional 2-hour hike for fit travelers. After lunch, return drive to Tbilisi via Pasanauri.

    Tbilisi → Telavi (Kakheti)

    Drive east into Kakheti. Visit the 9th-century Alaverdi Cathedral and a family qvevri winery for tasting and a traditional lunch. Continue to Telavi for an evening walk.

    Sighnaghi & Bodbe

    Drive south to Bodbe Convent and the walled town of Sighnaghi. Walk the medieval ramparts, visit a small natural-wine cellar, and enjoy a supra dinner with local musicians.

    Departure

    Drive back to Tbilisi (about 2 hours). Hotel check-out and airport drop-off, scheduled to your departure flight.
