Two days that condense the most photogenic mountain route in Georgia. We follow the Georgian Military Highway north from Tbilisi — past Ananuri fortress, the Jvari Pass and the alpine ski resort of Gudauri — to Stepantsminda, the village beneath Mount Kazbeg. The 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church (2,170 m) is reached by 4×4 or, for fit travelers, on foot. Overnight in a small mountain hotel with views of the peak.

    Tbilisi → Stepantsminda

    Morning departure from Tbilisi. Stops at Zhinvali reservoir, Ananuri fortress, the Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument and the Jvari Pass. Arrive in Stepantsminda by mid-afternoon, with time for a short walk in the village.

    Gergeti Trinity & return

    4×4 transfer up to Gergeti Trinity Church for full guiding and photos; the church sits below the southern face of Mount Kazbeg. Optional 2-hour hike on the descent for fit travelers. Lunch in Stepantsminda, then drive back to Tbilisi (about 3 hours).
